Although tattooing a partners name may make you think twice, and tattooing under 18's is illegal in the UK, there are actually a number of tattoo types we don't always recommend, although we may still do them if you are fully informed and we have assessed them favourably: BTW these awful tattoos were not done by us.....
Palm SKIN tattoos
Thick skin is only found on the palms of the hands, and the soles of the feet, locations subjected to considerable abrasion. It has a thick epidermis and contains sweat glands, but lacks hair follicles and sebaceous glands. This skin area extends up around the sides of the finger, hands, and feet and should be avoided where possible in tattoos as the ink is less likely to retain well due to the different type of skin, as well as the high use nature of the areas. If the tattoo is still desired, a deeper penetration of the needle will be required, resulting in a more painful, less fine lined tattoo with a higher risk of "blow-outs" and increased potential for frequent touch ups or drop outs. Some types of designs will be better candidates for this skin area than others.
overly small single needle tattoos
Whilst we can do some amazing fine line work, there are a few restrictions and practicalities to consider. Skin is a living organism, and ink will migrate over time to a certain amount-, hopefully very little if placed at the perfect depth. However, when the line you desire is only .5mm thick, and it blurs to another .5mm, you can end up with a very different taatto. Again, some designs are better suited to this style than others, with lines that have plenty of space around them doing well, as do larger designs or lightly shaded designs. Listen to your artist about what they recommend. Using an artist that avoids going too deep into the skin is also vital. The internet can somewhat be to blame with this style's popularity, and peoples lack of awareness of the limitations, due to the massive prevalence of apparently perfect miniature tattoos which are in fact stickers / temporary tattoos and would be not only extremely difficult to render into the skin, but lose the desired effect within weeks.
Face tattoos
We will perform facial tattoos, but you must be heavily tattooed already for us at Armoury to go ahead, and usually already have facial tattoos. Tattoos are obviously largely irreversible. Most laser machines do best eliminating black ink that is not too deep or overworked- you shouldn't get a tattoo if you think it may need removal, but the info can be good to have.
The law in the UK currently allows those who are 18 or over to have a tattoo anywhere on their body.
But in the workplace - there are no protections against an employer discriminating against someone because of tattoos. Many people with face tattoos feel they are judged differently so this requires some hard thinking, and maturity.
We do reserve the right to refuse at our discretion.

hand and finger.. Because of the nature of finger tattoos, there is a lot more care that needs to be taken to ensure that they don’t wear away before their time. For starters, right after the tattoo has been made, the hand needs to be kept away from water and be cleaned properly.
This can be hard considering that we use our hands for so many things, but it needs to be done only for a period of a week before you can resume doing things as normal. After that, the tattoo needs to be properly moisturized almost every day, to ensure that the skin doesn’t dry up and shed there too fast.
Finger Tattoos tend to get more blurry and faded than most other kinds of tattoos. Because of the skin around the area being looser as compared to other parts of the body, there is a good amount of skin stretching that goes on, which can disfigure and warp the entire tattoo.
The tattoo may also leak a little bit on to the skin around it. Most of the time, this blurring starts to happen only after six to eight months of the tattoo being done, but in some unfortunate cases, can happen a lot sooner than one might think.
white ink
Most of the pictures of white inked tattoos we see on the Internet were taken the day they were made, so they can be quite misleading. The truth is that, although they can look pretty good, there's no way of knowing for sure how they're going to heal and age, so it's basically something that depends on the type of skin of the person and their particular healing process.
